Open Call For Artists

Dear Artist...
21 March 2012, Wednesday 15:00

What does the term influence mean to artists working today? How does an artist take influence from the work of another one? What kind of relationships are formed by influence between artists and art works?

Maçka Sanat Galerisi invited artists of every ages and tendencies, to gather for one evening in the gallery, bringing with them an art work, a book or a music piece etc that is significant for their practice, that they take inspiration from or are influenced by.

Since its inception in 1976 Maçka Sanat Galerisi has had a vision to support and show new production and research. It has followed the development of art, both locally and internationally, and aimed to keep the viewer up to date with the most recent forms of artistic production. In the meantime, it has been the place for artists', writers', poets' and thinkers' meeting, dialogue and production.

Following on this tradition, Dear Artist... was conceived as an informal gathering, in which the artists of today were invited to discover and engage with material that holds special significance to the practice of another.
