şeylerin geometrisi - Ömür Tokgöz
Humans perceive objects as wholes by mentally assembling their parts. In this exhibition, which can be conceptualized within the framework of Gestalt Theory, Ömür Tokgöz explores a perception of nature that encompasses both what is naturally occurring and what is human-made — much like how we perceive a tree through its branches, leaves, and fruits, yet understand it as a unified whole.
The artist questions whether geometry, as a construct of the human mind, stands in contrast to the inherent mathematics of nature — as a form of opposition or disharmony — or, in the relationship between part and whole, how the sum of the units leads to difference.
By forming clusters, masses, and surfaces out of extremely fragile, translucent porcelain units, Tokgöz may be interpreting the life and existence of living beings — from the formation of the Earth to the emergence of humans 200,000 years ago — as the mathematics of nature itself, while defining the adventure of civilization as a process of detachment from nature.
