Loneliness Cannot Be Shared

Maçka Art Gallery celebrates the 100th birthday of Özdemir Asaf, one of the most original voices in contemporary Turkish poetry, with the participation of artists from various disciplines.

The group exhibition titled “Loneliness Cannot Be Shared”, held on the centennial of Özdemir Asaf—who once said, “Thanks to my father: he made me a contemporary of the Republic”—features works by artists interpreting Asaf’s perspective on loneliness through his poetry. The exhibition includes pieces in photography, ceramics, painting, sculpture, textile, glass, and video.

Focusing on the increasingly solitary individual in today’s crowded world and on the solitude we seek or need, the exhibition invites viewers to reflect on the “States of Loneliness.”

As part of the exhibition, which includes all of Özdemir Asaf’s works published by Yapı Kredi Publishing, collaborative events will also be organized in partnership with Yapı Kredi Kültür Sanat.

Participating artists: Ani Çelik Arevyan, Ayşen Urfalıoğlu, Barış Murathanoğlu, Bashir Borlakov, Bilge Alkor, Defne & Hamit Demirel, Esra Carus, Etem Şahin, Fatih Kızılcan, Gönül Nuhoğlu, Güçlü Polat, Güneş Çınar, Halit Demirel, Ömür Tokgöz, Rabia Seyhan, Serhat Kiraz, Seyhun Topuz, Tunç Ali Çam, Yıldız Moran.
