Halit Demirel’s exhibition “içe” at Maçka Sanat Galerisi takes viewers on an enigmatic journey through the landscapes of the soul. This journey invites the individual, in a vast, overwhelming, and seemingly chaotic world, to focus on the essence, the personal, and the inward-directed, prompting reflection on the significance of individuality, identity, and the self within a broader context.

The interplay of light and shadow, created by the meeting of black tones with water and white paper, reflects the complexity of the human spirit. Where light and shadow merge, viewers are given the opportunity to explore the depths of their own emotions. Just as light cannot exist without shadow, everything gains meaning through its opposite; the works remind us that our inner selves are a complex interaction of consciousness and subconsciousness, the known and the mysterious.

The inward-directed pursuit of infinity in Halit Demirel’s works is, in essence, a search for the reflection of the universe within the human being. His reworking of tradition in a contemporary language, combined with an introspective sensitivity, seeks to explore the depths of human existence. Encouraging viewers to question the limits of reality, Demirel guides them to explore the mysterious and enigmatic aspects of both the universe and humanity. His performative installation, applied specifically to the walls of Maçka Sanat Galerisi, further invites the audience on a journey through the memory of history and art history.
